Bamber Bridge building with quartet

Bamber Bridge have confirmed their first four signings of the summer, headline by attacking midfielder Danny Pilkington.

Pilkington, 29, started his career playing in the Football League with Stockport County, and has considerable experience in the National League with York, Kidderminster, Hereford and Barrow.

He said: “I cannot wait to get started now after a little break. After speaking with a few other clubs, it was the management team here that convinced me to sign. I also used to play with Dan Wisdom and he spoke nothing but positive about the facilities, training and lads so I am buzzing to meet up with everyone.”

Joining Pilkington is versatile forward Gary Pett, left-back Adam Sumner and winger Ryan White.

Pett, 30, previously scored one goal on his only appearance for Brig during the 2017/18 promotion campaign, and arrives from Squires Gate.

Sumner fills the void left back by Adam Dodd’s departure to FC United, while former Bolton man White, 20, returns to the club after a brief spell with FC United.

Manager Joey Collins said: “Managing to sign someone of Danny’s previous experience playing Football League, and National League football is a huge coup for the club. He was our first signing just days after the season finished and we cannot wait to get him up and running with us.

“Gary gives us a different option in attack with his physical attributes as well as his technical ability. A big athletic frame gives us another dimension and after beating competition for his signature we are hoping for him to help us this season.

“We beat off stiff competition to get this signing done so quickly and Adam is excited to get involved.

“With Whitey playing here before, we knew of his qualities and wanted him to return to allow him to prove himself again, and ultimately contribute to what we believe will be a successful season in a tough division.”
