Banner tribute to centurion striker

Ramsbottom United

Ramsbottom United striker Jon Robinson notched an historic landmark when he converted a penalty with the last kick of the match against Whitby Town in the EVO-STIK Northern Premier League on Tuesday night.

Coming on as a substitute in the 4-0 win for the Rams, he hammered home the spot kick he'd won himself and in the process notched up his 100th goal in his 152nd appearance for the Premier Division club.

A firm favourite with the fans at the Harry Williams Riverside Stadium, the Salford-based hit man has been one of the mainstays of a side that has achieved two promotions during his six season spell at the east Lancashire club.

Now playing at their highest ever level, 'Robbo' and the rest of the team are acclimatising well to life in the EVO-STIK NPL's top flight with the Rams currently sitting in the play-off places ahead of Saturday's trip to Marine.

The hot-shot is pictured in front of the banner supporters unveiled to mark his midweek strike and a Rams spokesman said: "Jon has rightly earned his place as a Rammy legend and the supporters are looking forward to him notching many more goals for the club in the years ahead."
