The pair meet in a re-arranged EVO-STIK Premier Division match on Saturday, having both already been knocked out of the FA Cup.
Carruthers said: "Lancaster have had some bad luck and have not had the results their performances have deserved. We know they will be a well organised and hard working side and will be difficult to break down.
"We will need to be on our game, if not we will pay the price."
Basford have won three out of four at home this season and currently sit in eighth place in the table.
Lancaster are the only side in the division yet to record victory and have lost all four away from The Giant Axe, though have showed an improvement in form since the departure of manager Phil Brown and recorded a win, albeit on penalties, in the Integro League Cup in midweek.
