Ben Hardcastle makes Colls return

Ashton United midfielder Ben Hardcastle has left the club to re-join Atherton Collieries.

Hardcastle has already made the second-highest number of appearances for Colls in the 21st Century.

He featured 273 times for the club, having first arrived in the summer of 2014, before joining the Robins for a club record fee in December 2019, following then-manager Michael Clegg to Hurst Cross.

During his time at Ashton, the attacking playmaker amassed over a century of appearances, scoring 10 times.

He was also a Manchester Senior Cup winner with the Robins last season, scoring the winning goal against Hyde United.

Now back at Colls, he is just six goals shy of 100 for the club.

Weather permitting, he could go straight into the squad for Tuesday’s night’s clash with Warrington Town.
