Better late than never for stalwart!

EVO-STIK League Frickley Athletic have been making sure that one of their most loyal supporters didn't miss out on a major accolade.

Blues chairman Stuart Highfield is pictured making a presentation to Steve White at the Big Fellas Stadium after the supporter became the EVO-STIK League South club's fourth honorary vice-president.

A dedicated volunteer at Westfield Lane despite battling illnesses for long periods in recent seasons, the stalwart became the latest inductee into the exclusive club when Spencer Fearn's promotion-chasing Blues collected their EVO-STIK League Club of the Month Award for January.

The volunteer couldn't make an earlier match when the presentation was originally scheduled to take place and the Blues say they were determined he wouldn't miss out again after the devotion he's shown over many years.

Spokesman Michael Johnson said: "Steve is the sort of rock solid presence that all clubs like ours need and we were delighted that he could be with us to finally collect a thoroughly deserved honour."

The Blues collected their reward for being one of the first teams in the Northern Premier League to hit top form in 2018 alongside Grantham Town in the top flight and Scarborough Athletic in EVO-STIK League North before hosting Alvechurch last week.
