FA Cup Third Round Draw

Blyth Spartans will host Birmingham City in the FA Cup Third Round following Monday night's live draw on BBC2.

After beating Hartlepool 2-1 with a last minute winner at Victoria Park in the last round, Spartans will host the Championship giants at Croft Park over the weekend beginning Friday 3 January.

Millions watching live on Match of the Day on Friday night saw Tom Wade's giant-killers come from behind to bank a £72,000 television fee and £27,000 in prize money for the win.

If the Spartans can overcome the Blues early next month, the club will earn another £67,500 in prize money alone and their manager was satisfied, if not elated, by their pairing.

Wade, who was at the draw in Hull to see former England captain Alan Shearer pull the balls out of the hat, said: "It is a home draw and they are a good side. It gives something back to the supporters who've followed us all over the place and have been great. We'll be looking forward to it."
