Birtles bound for Brigg

Brigg Town

Former England international Garry Birtles is returning to his Non-League roots to entertain fans at a Brigg Town Sportsmen's Evening.

The Sky commentator, pictured, is booked to entertain fans at the Evo-Stik NPL First Division South club's Hawthorns with tales of his career next month. Birtles, who isn't afraid to voice his opinions on the state of the game and modern footballers, will also take questions from supporters during a Q & A session in Lincolnshire.

The 56-year-old signed for Nottingham Forest in 1976 from Northern Counties East side Long Eaton United and moved to Manchester United in 1980 before returning to Forest in 1984. He moved to Notts County in 1987 before ending his playing career at Grimsby after a two year spell in 1991.

The Zebras say a limited number of £20 tickets are available for the event on Thursday November 29 that also includes dinner and entertainment from Lincolnshire comedian Steve Barclay.

For more information and bookings call Brigg’s commercial manager Matt Jones on 07415 068996.
