Birtles show wows Zebras

Brigg Town’s supporters were entertained with tales of the legendary Brian Clough on Thursday night by former Nottingham Forest and England star Gary Birtles.

The former Manchester star, pictured, proved a huge hit at the Hawthorns, enthralling a packed Sportmen’s Dinner at the Evo-Stik NPL First Division South club.

Birtles, who went on to play for Notts County and Grimsby and now works as a Sky Sports pundit, regaled guests with tales from his career including insights into his relationship with his famously eccentric late former manager Clough.

Zebras spokesman Matthew Jones said: "Brigg Town FC would like to thank everyone who attended and hope they enjoyed the night as much as we did.
