Blues boss hit by bizarre blow

Leek Town manager Anthony Danylyk must be desperate for a change in luck after the latest misfortune to hit his EVO-STIK Northern Premier League squad.

Facing a trip to Carlton Town on Saturday in EVO-STIK NPL First Division South, Danylyk will definitely have to make do without Mackenzie Faulkner, pictured, and possibly up to four more of his Blues squad.

The defender has been ordered to rest for seven days after collecting a nasty wound at Harrison Park last Saturday when his head made contact with an opponent's teeth during his side's 1-0 victory over Sheffield FC.

Faulkner, who arrived at the club in August after progressing through the youth and reserve team set-ups at Port Vale, was hurt in an accidental clash of heads with fellow full-back Alex Morris playing alongside him with stitches in his foot following a tackle at Kidsgrove Athletic last week.

Danylyk and skipper Niall Maguire both overcame injury problems themselves to return to the squad and they'll also have to make do without the defensive cover offered by Darren Chadwick this weekend after he was sent off to earn a three match suspension.

There was some positive news from the treatment room for the Blues player-boss after winger Tom France, midfielder Dan Shelley and defender Aaron Carter all resumed training this week after recovering from injuries.
