Blues turning pink for charity

Clitheroe’s fans and players are turning from blue to pink next Saturday to back Breast Cancer Day.

The Blues take on Farsley in Evo-Stik NPL First Division North and are urging fans to make sure Shawbridge is awash with pink to raise funds to help the fight the killer disease.

Players Marcus Calvert, pictured left, and Connor Smith, right, proudly previewed the pink kit at training this week after Clitheroe Chairwoman Anne Barker revealed they’d decided to put an old pink strip fans must of thought had been consigned to history to good use again!

Barker said: "We couldn’t think of a better way of bringing it back than for such a worthy cause so we’re sure the fans are happy! Non-League clubs often raise money for themselves and we wanted to take the chance to help others this time.

"The players are looking forward to running out in pink and we’re challenging our fans and Farsley’s too, if they want to join in, to wear as much pink as possible on the day."

Clitheroe are also planning to make a donation to the Rosemere Cancer Care Centre at Royal Preston Hospital and say bucket collections by charity volunteers will take place around the ground to support Wear It Pink day, taking place this year to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the charity Breast Cancer Campaign.
