Hodkinson was the Bucks' top scorer during the 2021/22 season, netting a total of 26 goals for the club.
He hit double figures this season before making the step up to the Northern Premier League with Marine, alongside team-mate Louis Britton in February.
Now he will return to the Berry Street Garage Stadium, and in doing so becomes Dave McNabb's first summer signing as he looks to freshen up his squad ahead of the new season.
Following his return to the club, Hodkinson said: "I’m absolutely made up to come back to the club. It’s somewhere that I never wanted to leave, and a place where I have played my best football.
"When the opportunity came to come back, I jumped at the chance.
"I know the manager has been interested in me in the past but the opportunity never came, but with him being at Bootle and me coming back to where I want to be, it’s a perfect fit.
"I’m over the moon to be back playing in front of the fans and making more memories with the Bucks."
