Broken wrist won't stop Green

Leek Town full-back Niall Green is still hoping to play at leaders Stafford Rangers on Saturday despite breaking his wrist in EVO-STIK Northern Premier League action on Saturday.

Green, pictured, suffered a broken wrist during his side's 2-1 win at Lincoln United in First Division South. Substituted midway through the second half after he was hurt, his fracture was later confirmed when Lee Casswell's play-off chasing side arrived home from the Potteries and he was sent for an X-ray.

If doctors are in agreement at a second hospital appointment later this week, officials are hoping Green will be able to play wearing leather strapping when the Blues head to Marston Road Road.

The former Norton United defender arrived at Harrison Park in October after a short spell at Witton Albion. In 2014, Green helped the now defunct Norton United win the North West Counties Football League championship and promotion to the EVO-STIK NPL.
