Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Grantham Town's joint managers Gary Sucharewycz and Ian Robinson believe they've taken another step forward in building their emerging squad with the capture of Buxton midfielder Michael Towey.
Delighted Robinson said Towey's arrival from their Premier Division rivals is another vital signing as they shape their squad at the Meres for the coming campaign after taking over midway through the last season.
"Michael was one of our targets from the end of the season," said Robinson. "He is a big strong box-to-box midfielder. He has always scored goals and brings us a lot of experience to our side having been at Buxton for eight seasons. When we spoke to him, he liked what he heard and agreed to come straight away. He wanted a new challenge."
The 28-year-old, pictured, joined Buxton in November 2005, scoring 60 goals from just over 350 appearances for the Derbyshire side, including an impressive 17 goals in the 2010-11 season.
Towey's scoring exploits are not lost on Robinson, who added: "We think Michael will bring us a new dimension to our midfield play. He shows a lot of quality on the ball and with his goals, takes some of the pressure off the front lads. He will complement Rhys and Macca in the centre."
