Cables mourn President's passing

Prescot Cables are mourning the loss of Club President George Hayward.

The Evo-Stik NPL First Division North club announced on Monday that the former Mayor of Prescot and Tigers stalwart passed away on Saturday evening after suffering a stroke just before Christmas.

Cables Secretary Doug Lace paid tribute to Councillor Hayward who'd been involved at Valerie Park for more than 30 years, holding various posts including Secretary and Vice Chairman before becoming President.

Lace said: "George was a true Prescotian who loved his town and football club."
