Prescot Cables boss David Powell says his preseason recruitment campaign continues despite asking twelve new players to attend training this week.

Powell insists the search to find the right balance for his squad goes on after calling back a dozen Cable hopefuls from 40 who attended to two practice sessions.

Powell said: “The new lads will fit in great with the retained squad members and most are young enthusiastic lads with Pro club backgrounds. We're still in need of one or two players with experience of Non-League football to compliment what we have and I am speaking with several players that fit the bill.”

The Cables manager says he’ll be looking to continue improving his squad throughout the coming campaign in Evo-Stik NPL First Division North.

“We will be continuing to recruit during pre-season and for that matter throughout the new season as needs dictate,” said Powell.

“We will always be open to bringing in the right type of player, as well as working to improve the performance of existing players, by contastantly try to develop the squad.

“We are particularly interested in experienced lads who feel they are on the fringe of squads at other Non-League clubs. I'd encourage them to pick up the phone to me if they want to play more regularly and fancy a new challenge.”

Cables’ pre-season schedule kicks off at the club tonight (Tuesday) at 7pm. Sessions take place three times a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, also from 7pm, and Saturdays at 2pm.

Prescot Cables’ first preseason game is on Saturday 14 July at Stockport Sports FC, last season’s Evo-Stik NPL side Woodley Sports.
