Campbell backing new look Boro

Former Arsenal, Nottingham Forest, Everton and West Bromwich Albion star Kevin Campbell is giving his seal of approval to the new era dawning at EVO-STIK Northern Premier League Radcliffe Borough.

The ex-Premier League striker has congratulated new chairman Paul Hilton on the success he’s been enjoying since succeeding major shareholder Bernard Manning Junior at the helm of the EVO-STIK NPL First Division North club in April.

Hilton unveiled charity XPRO Life After Sport as the club’s new front of shirt sponsor last week and was hailed by Campbell on Friday for the stadium naming rights deal he has struck with the Taurus Security Group.

Stainton Park has been renamed Taurus Park and Campbell, an ambassador for the family-run firm and charity XPRO, said: “Firstly, as the ambassador of Taurus Security Group I am delighted we are a partner of Radcliffe Borough Football Club.

“Having spoken to the new chairman Paul Hilton and shareholder Bernard Manning Jr with regards to the new Radcliffe Borough project and the direction the club are now heading, I felt a definite connection as Taurus Security Group have a belief that the plans that have been laid out are similar to our own company values and ethos.

“Giving talented people a genuine chance to improve, develop and perform is so important yet not an easy task and as a former player I was brought up within a program that adhered to these same ethics so I personally must commend the football club for taking this positive stance and gearing up for an exciting new era at the club."

The 46-year-old, who played in the Turkish top flight for Trabzonspor and in the Football League for Leyton Orient, Leicester City and Cardiff City, is also backing Boro boss Bill Prendergast to bring the good times back on the pitch come August.

He added: “The appointment of Bill Prendergast as manager was a crucial factor in our commitment to the project because the strength of any football club looking to develop players and staff has to have a strong manager and leader with a proven track record in order to deliver.

“I look forward to our partnership together and wish the team every success this season and every season thereafter.”

Hilton, a service management consultant, couldn’t have got off to a better start after sealing a stadium naming rights deal and sponsorship from a high profile charity offering help, support and advice to former professionals and academy players in the UK and Ireland.

XPRO are opening a residential academy at Lilleshall, England’s former team home. Once the academy is up and running, the partnership should prove to be mutually beneficial with their ex-pros getting the chance to put themselves in the shop window for a return to the pro game by turning out for Boro in the EVO-STIK NPL.

Hilton said: “It’s been great to have Kevin’s support and guidance as we build our new development ethos in the club. His knowledge and experience will be a great help to us as we continue this new era and I am very grateful for the help of such a high profile and respected football figure.

“The XPRO sponsorship underpins the development we are making to all aspects of the club and the stadium rights is another positive deal with not only a sponsor but a genuine partner with family values that match our own.

“I have a great deal of confidence in our new manager Bill Prendergast and his new management team to deliver the player development and empowerment environment that our new project requires and with the new partnerships we have created off the field we hope that we can make a real impact on the Non-League landscape.

“To have Kevin on board will only enhance the level of development we can achieve as he adds his experience from the very top level of the game.”

XPRO CEO Geoff Scott said: “From the off we were very interested in a partnership. Its brilliant for us to have an association with Radcliffe Borough.”

The Taurus Security Group provide services such as CCTV monitoring, manned guards, mobile patrols, electronic security and key holding. A family orientated business, Taurus was established 13 years ago in neighbouring Whitefield before moving to their state of the art control centre the city centre.

Taurus Security Group MD Gill Lambert said: “We feel that the sponsorship deal with Radcliffe will give us a lot of exposure throughout the north of England via the ground sponsorship, website and match programme while building a lasting partnership with the Club and its community.”
