Carruthers sets sights on first win

Basford United boss Martin Carruthers is backing his side to finally get off the mark in the EVO-STIK League's top flight over the bank holiday weekend.

Despite suffering narrow defeats at home to Hednesford and away at Hyde United, the manager of last season's EVO-STIK League South champions is taking plenty of positives from his side's performances ahead of a trip to Merseyside on Saturday to face Marine before hosting Grantham Town at Greenwich Avenue on Monday.

Both EVO-STIK League Premier Division matches kick off at 3pm and Carruthers, pictured, told fans: “We’ve been punished for little mistakes, at the level we are at now it’s all about fine margins. Our second half display against Hednesford on Monday was first class and we were unlucky not to take all three points, we will be looking to take that level of performance into our weekend games.”
