Casswell won't risk midfield dynamo

Leek Town

Leek Town manager Lee Casswell is hoping to welcome Anthony Danylyk back into his squad when the Blues host Loughborough Dynamo on Tuesday but the dynamic midfielder won’t be risked unless he is fully recovered from his knee injury, writes Michael Cope.

Casswell also revealed on Monday that Michael Thomas, out of action since picking up an ankle injury in the home win over Romulus in December, is still at least two weeks away from playing. Thomas will be at Harrison Park on Tuesday to be re-assessed while winger Tom Urwin is also two weeks away from full fitness after being carried off at Northwich on New Year’s Day.

Casswell has brought in reinforcements ahead of Tuesday’s First Division South fixture followed by Saturday’s visit of league leaders Coalville Town. Goalkeeper Ben Chapman is back and was on the bench during Saturday’s 1-0 win at second placed Stamford following his release by Welsh Premier League side Airbus UK last week.

The tall stopper signed for The Wingmakers in the close season after starring in Leek's run to the play-offs in the second half of last season. He made 15 appearances for the Welsh side before losing his place through injury in December. He made 20 appearances and kept seven clean sheets for Leek last season after initially signing on loan from Nantwich Town in November 2011 before the move was made permanent in last March.

Midfielders George Pauley and Christian Peach from Shepshed Dynamo and Northwich Victoria, respectively, have also signed for the Blues.

Peach, 19, is described as a play-maker and was snapped up by Vics’ former manager Andy Much in September 2012 after previous experience with Crewe’s acclaimed academy where he starred alongside Blues’ Dan Shelley. Peach was also a non-playing substitute during Saturday's win at the Daniels.

Pauley, 17, has been signed from Shepshed Dynamo and is the cousin of former Blues midfielder Sam Wood. The youngster is currently playing in the reserves and was a second half substitute in the recent friendly at Eccleshall.

Meanwhile, contracted keeper Danny Roberts, who has been on the transfer list since the end of November, has been loaned out to Evo-Stik NPL First Division South rivals Market Drayton Town in a one-month deal.
