BUXTON FC chairman Tony Tomlinson is hailing a new atmosphere at Silverlands and predicting a bright future following the arrival of Martin McIntosh's new recruits.

McIntosh’s men reported back for pre-season training today - seven weeks ahead of the start of the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League's new Premier Division campaign.

The manager added to his his squad this week with 33-year-old Danish keeper Jan Budtz and popular defender Marc Roberts now on a season-long loan from Worksop Town.

Buxton chairman Tomlinson told the Buxton Advertiser's website: “Buxton’s directors are certainly encouraged by the more positive atmosphere surrounding the club this summer.

“The two further signings made by the manager in the past week have taken the total of new recruits to five and, with all of them having proven quality, the club’s prospects look promising in what is again sure to be a challenging division.”

Budtz is best known for his penalty shoot-out heroics on his debut for Doncaster Rovers in their 2005 League Cup win over Manchester City.

Centre-half Roberts helped the Bucks successfully battle relegation during his 14 match loan from Worksop last season.

Roberts should partner David Haggerty who signed from FC Halifax Town. The arrival of midfielders Jordan Hall from Alfreton and Sam Duncum from Ilkeston complete McIntosh's summer signings.
