Currently flying high in EVO-STIK League South in second spot behind leaders Cleethorpes Town, victory in the 3pm kick-off at Greenwich Avenue will see the Nottingham-based club reach the Emirates FA Cup Third Qualifying Round for the first time after failing in nine previous bids.
Carruthers is sure his side will be up for their record-breaking attempt after a disappointing 1-1 draw at home to Chasetown on Monday night took the shine off the last gasp 3-2 home win they secured over Frickley Athletic last weekend to keep the pressure on the league leaders.
Ben Hutchinson is pictured celebrating his 94th minute winner against the Blues and Carruthers told fans on Friday: "It's a huge game for us, against a team from a higher division, who are a very good side. We have the chance to make history but we will have to be at our peak to do so.
“Last Monday we had five or six players who were not at the races, which is not acceptable. We have to be professional and perform to a high standard at all times. We were nowhere near our best on Monday. We will be looking to the players to rise to the occasion on Saturday."
EVO-STIK League Premier Division Mickleover Sports beat AFC Hinckley 2-1 to set up the tie and will host any replay needed on Tuesday night.
