Charity honours Mariners

Marine

Football charity Kit Aid is honouring Evo-Stik NPL Marine.

The Premier Division outfit becomes only the fifth club to be invited to become one of the charity's prestigious Ambassador Clubs.

Since its foundation in 1998 KitAid has sent more than 200,000 donated shirts to less fortunate footballers around the world with support from a host of Non-League’s leading clubs.

The Mariners join Chesham Utd, FC United of Manchester, Witton Albion and Stenhousemuir in being honoured for the efforts. Marine teamed up with BBC Radio Merseyside in January to persuade fans to donate an astonishing six thousand plus kits before the end of last season.

Kit Aid Founder Derrick Williams MBE, said: "Marine have really got behind KitAid thanks to their Community Officer Barry Lenton and Chairman Paul Leary to collect over 6,000 items of kit for us to date. Barry is aiming to increase this to 10,000 as the new season kicks off and we're looking forward to a long partnership with Marine."
