Chorley came from two goals behind to win the opening game of the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League 5-4 at Stocksbridge Park Steels.

Andy Russell scored the winner on 77 minutes for Garry Flitcroft's side on Friday night after Tom Ince had pulled two back after the break for the visitors to level the scores at 4-4.

The Evo-Stik NPL Premier Division outfits went into half-time locked at 2-2 but strikes from Grant Darley and Michael Fish handed Stocksbridge a two goal cushion after the break.

Earlier, James Booker and Gavin Ellison had scored for manager Chris Willcock's home side with Ciaran Kilheeney and Adam Roscoe replying for the visitors in the thrilling first fixture of the season at the Look Local Stadium.

Chorley welcome promoted Witton Albion to Victory Park on Tuesday night while Stocksbridge head to Blyth Spartans, another team new to the Premier Division following their relegation from the Conference North in April.
