Clitheroe bolster squad ahead of play-off push

Clitheroe have announced the signing of versatile Lancaster City full-back Matty Clarke.

The 24-year-old leaves the Dolly Blues after less than a season, having previously spent four-and-a-half years with Workington.

During that time, he amassed over 130 appearances for the Reds and won promotion with the club last season, helping them return to Step 3 football.

Clarke made 20 appearances for Lancaster in the Northern Premier League but fell out of favour in recent weeks, despite the arrival of Chris Willcock - his former manager at Workington - at the Giant Axe last month.

He was an unused substitute during their most recent league outing, a 1-1 draw at home to Clarke's former club Workington.
