Clitheroe secure new sponsors

Evo-Stik NPL First Division North Clitheroe have announced a new sponsorship deal with local hotel and spa the Mercure Dunkenhalgh.

The deal sees the historic Clayton-le-Moors based leisure base become the official kit sponsor of the Shawbridge club for the next two seasons.

Clitheroe chairwoman Anne Barker, pictured, joined the hotel and spa’s sales manager Chris Ford, right, and head concierge Robert Clegg, left, for the formal handover of the new kits.

She said: "I'm delighted that we have concluded a deal with the Mercure Dunkenhalgh to sponsor our new home and away strips. It is great to have a successful local business on board and I feel very much that this partnership will be to the benefit of both parties over the coming years."

The new kits will see competitive action for the first time on Saturday when Clitheroe kick off their campaign at Garforth Town before the home strip is unveiled next Teusday night when they entertain Harrogate Railway Athletic.

Mercure’s sales manager Ford said: "We're extremely proud to be unveiled as the new kit sponsors of Clitheroe Football Club and feel the two year term of the deal emphasises our commitment to the club.

He added: "A core value of Mercure is the support of communities, not just with regard to football and sport but a whole range of local projects and charitable works. We look forward to playing a part in the upcoming season."

The Mercure Dunkenhalgh can trace its heritage back to the thirteenth century, with the 700 year old manor house now blending historic grandeur with a host of modern facilities.

The 175 room property, situated off the M65's Junction 7, houses a 4 star hotel, wedding suites for up to 300 guests, meeting space for 400 people as well as expansive leisure and spa amenities.

Clitheroe Football Club has a proud history itself and can lay claim to being one of the oldest clubs in Lancashire having being formed back in 1877.
