Feeney, 18, spent last season in Barnsley's academy having previously been with Wolves.
Manager Michael Clegg said: "He is a good number 9, he’s got pace, aggression and all the qualities needed for this league. He isn’t a stereotypical ex-academy lad, he is rough and ready and wants to show what he is about at this level.
"He is still keen to progress in football so we are hoping to give him the platform to do that. The striking department has been all over the place early doors with Tom and Jordan’s niggles, so we were desperate to bring a forward in."
