Cup clash is chance to impress

Neil Baker is looking forward to giving his squad players at EVO-STIK League Leek Town a chance to shine in the Staffordshire Senior Cup.

Before seeing his side lose 2-1 at Kidsgrove Athletic in EVO-STIK League South on Wednesday night, Baker, pictured, told fans he'd use a second round meeting with Eccleshaw FC at Harrison Park in December to give his players game time and a chance to impress.

The North West Counties Football League club beat Uttoxeter Town 3-0 to earn the right to face the Blues in the week commencing Monday 4 December after Baker's squad benefited from a bye in the competition and he told fans: "This will be an opportunity to give some of the squad members a game under competition conditions."

The county cup opponents enjoy a healthy relationship, with Blues players requiring match fitness regularly on loan with the Eagles. Last season, assistant manager Jamie Cullerton had a brief spell as the manager at the Division One club before returning to Leek.

* The Blues are looking to fill a supporters coach to Lincoln United in EVO-STIK League South on Saturday. The coach is leaving the ground at 10.30am with a pick up planned at Catchems Corner at 11am and tickets priced at £5.
