Blyth Spartans

Matthew Wade, Jordan Watson and Ryan Hutchinson were heading to Scotland on Monday night for a trial at Alloa Athletic after their heroics for EVO-STIK Northern Premier League Blyth Spartans in the FA Cup this season.

Spartans announced on Monday that the trio were heading north of the border to play in a trial match on Tuesday against Athletic's first team.

The Wasps are currently second from bottom of the Scottish Championship and are understood to have been watching the players since the end of November.

Officials at Croft Park say the players will return to the North East later this week in time for Saturday's home game at Curzon Ashton in the top flight.

Meanwhile, forward Jarrett Rivers has returned from a week long trial with League One Oldham Athletic. Spartans say the Latics have not made an offer for Rivers but will continue to monitor his progress over the coming months.
