Dabbers defender leaves club

Nantwich Town have announced that defender Jacob Edwards has left the club to pursue other opportunities.

The 19-year-old joined the Dabbers in the summer of 2021, and after some time spent on dual-registration with Alsager Town, he made his full debut in October 2021 at home against South Shields.

He went on to make 15 appearances for the club in total.

On Edwards’ departure, Nantwich Town boss Ritchie Sutton said: “Jacob’s a fantastic lad, he’s someone I’ve been in contact with quite a lot.

“I’ve explained to him the situation we’re in. We’re trying to go with players that are a bit more experienced and it’s a risk to play people like Jacob that haven’t played in a while.

“He’s gone with my blessing and I couldn’t say better words about him. He is a great pro, he works hard and I wish him all the best for the future.”

Everyone at Nantwich Town echoes Ritchie’s words and thanks Jacob for his efforts during his time at the club.
