Dabbers land hot-shot

By David Watters

Nantwich Town

Nantwich Town manager Danny Johnson swooped on Friday to sign former FC United of Manchester striker Ben Deegan from Ashton United.

The 25-year-old marksman has had three spells at Ashton as well as making over 100 appearances for the Rebels. ‘Deegs’, who has also served Altrincham, Flixton and New Mills, will add to the Dabbers’ striking options and goes straight into Johnson’s squad for Saturday's game at Stocksbridge Park Steels.

Moving in the opposite direction is Ashley Young. He's left the Weaver Stadium for Ashton United. Full-back Danny Lambert has been released and signed for Radcliffe Borough.

* The start of the season for the new Nantwich Town Ladies side has been put back to Sunday 15 September. The Dabbers are now scheduled to play host to Warrington Wolverines.
