EVO-STIK League Nantwich Town are mourning the loss of one of the club’s most loyal servants.

Life vice-president Neville Clarke, pictured, passed away on Tuesday aged 80 after holding a range of posts at the Premier Division’s Dabbers for more than half a century.

In a statement released by saddened officials, the club said: "Neville Clarke will be hugely missed by everyone connected with Nantwich Town Football Club. The club sends deepest sympathies to his sister Iris and nephew Trevor.

"Neville was a true servant to his beloved Nantwich Town FC – a club he had supported since boyhood. He joined the old club committee back in October 1959 and served the club with integrity and distinction for over half a century.

"Neville served the club in almost every conceivable capacity from training the youth team back in the 60s to assistant secretary for 17 years, committee member and matchday PA announcer.

"He became a trustee of the club and, in this role, helped move the club in 2007 from Jackson Avenue to its new Weaver Stadium – a fitting legacy for all his endeavours and commitment."

Officials at the Weaver Stadium say they will make further announcements concerning the funeral details for the club's late stalwart in due course.
