Daley a success at Sportsman's Evening

Renowned speaker entertains at Rushall event.

Evo-Stik Premier League club, Rushall Olympic recently hosted another of their popular Sportsman’s Evenings at their Dales Lane ground. A packed club enjoyed a memorable evening with guest speaker, the former Wolves, Manchester City and Walsall footballer, Steve Daley.

Voted ‘Soccer Speaker of the Year’ in 2009 and 2010, Steve admirably delivered a night of high entertainment and great humour regarding his football career – including the folklore surrounding his move to Manchester City from Wolves in September 1979 for a then British record transfer fee of £1,437,500. Steve opened up the Pics first ever Sportman’s Evening at Dales Lane in tremendous style and his return was a night not to be missed.

Comedy was provided by award-winning comedian, Gary Marshall, who provided more laughs during the evening with his unique style, deadpan delivery and abundant charm honed over a professional career totaling over 20 years. Also in attendance on the top table were Geoff Palmer, the former Wolves and Burnley player and MC for the evening and friend of the Pics, Steve Gray from Grays Promotions.

Nick Allen, Vice-Chairman of the Pics was delighted with the success of the event,

‘What a fantastic evening we enjoyed at Dales Lane. We have had so much positive feedback about the night and it was great to see so many returning faces including our supporters, players and local businesses. Our guests enjoyed great entertainment and a delicious three-course meal and the atmosphere in the club was electric. Steve Daley is amongst the very best in the business – the awards he has won in this field illustrates his great skill. He was hugely entertaining and delighted the guests with tales about his football career, all delivered with lots of laughs. Our comedian for the evening, Gary Marshall continued the night of high humour and got the whole place rocking with laughter. It was an absolutely cracking evening.’

Rushall Olympic will continue to host a programme of Sportsman’s Evenings in the future and will announce further details through their website, the press and social networking platforms and anyone who is interested in any future events or requires any information should contact the club’s Commercial Consultant, Jonathan Martin on 01939 260099 – office, 01939 260995 – fax, 07971 979261 – mobile, mmsportsgroup@aol.com – email for more details.
