Daventry appoint new manager

Daventry Town have confirmed the appointment of Daren Young as the club’s new manager ahead of the new season.

Town were relegated last year from the Midlands Division this season, and have been placed in the Counties League for the upcoming season.

Young joins from Burton Park Wanderers, where he helped them secure a midtable finish in the Spartan South Midlands League Division One. They were previously bottom of the league when he first arrived at the club.

He will be joined at Elderstubbs by Graeme Archer, who was also his assistant at the Wanderers.

Young said he had no hesitation about linking up with the Purple Army.

“I have been involved in football from youth level to UCL and Southern League over the last 25 years,” he said.

“We (Young and Archer) have both played locally. We saw the advert for the Daventry vacancy come up and had no hesitation in applying for it.

“ It's a huge club, its got massive history and we’re excited to be here!”
