Recruited by the Marston Road club from EVO-STIK NPL Premier Division rivals Nantwich Town earlier this season, the 23-year-old told fans on on Friday that he'd finally completed his dream move to the Champions League quarter-finalists and was looking forward to following in the footsteps of former Stocksbridge Park Steels striker Vardy.
Pictured in action, in a message on Facebook he posted: “I am delighted to finally announce that I have officially signed for the English champions Leicester City. I’m looking forward to the beginning of this new chapter in my life, the hard work starts now.”
Gordon, who had scored 11 goals for Rangers in the EVO-STIK NPL's top flight, featured for the Foxes in an U23s fixture against Nottingham Forest earlier in the season before returning to the King Power Stadium in February to impress against another club tracking his progress this term, Championship giants Derby County.
The forward spent eight years at Stoke City before joining Alloa Athletic in Scotland. After a spell north of the border and returning south to Peterborough United, he can thank the EVO-STIK NPL for rekindling his career after helping EVO-STIK NPL First Division South Newcastle Town make the play-offs in 2015 and the Dabbers go on a record-breaking run to the last four of the Buildbase FA Trophy last season.
Gordon will be the second EVO-STIK NPL graduate this year to secure a move to the top level after his former Newcastle Town teammate Cohen Bramall bagged a sensational move from Hednesford to Arsenal in January. Although the player has confirmed a move being widely reported in the media, officials at Stafford Rangers have yet to comment or confirm the move and any terms.
