Duo commit to Atherton Collieries

Atherton Collieries have announced that captain Danny Lafferty and Gaz Peet have both agreed to extend their contracts at the club.

Lafferty first played for the club in 2009 and returned in 2016 following stints with Oldham and Radcliffe. He earned the captain's armband in 2018 following the departure of Brad Cooke.

He has signed a new deal until the end of 2020.

“I’m really pleased to be committing to Colls for the remainder of this season and next season. Although I was gutted about Cleggy, Healdy, Baz and Eachus leaving, this just feels like home to me and I couldn’t see myself playing my football anywhere else at this moment in time.

"The club has a special place in my heart, the lads are a special bunch and with Brad coming in as manager I’m sure that isn’t going to change.

"We are on a good run at the moment and the fans have been first class so I’d like to say thank you for that on behalf of the boys and let’s keep this run going."

Peet has signed a new deal until 2021.

“I’m so proud to have signed a contract at Colls," he said.

"As everybody knows the club means a lot to me and my family and I’m looking forward to continuing to give everything for the club and the fans. Thanks to you all for the support you have always shown me. I’ve got no doubt we will continue to progress."
