Duty calls for Skem striker

Skelmersdale United hot-shot Josh Hine is quitting the Evo-Stik NPL First Division North title challengers to join the Royal Air Force.

The striker’s eight goals so far this season have helped manager Tommy Lawson scoop two Manager of the Month awards already and the club admit their top scorer will be missed at the West Lancashire College Stadium.

The former Southport, Burscough and Vauxhall Motors frontman signed for Skem in January from Clitheroe before quickly establishing himself in Lawson’s team and helping to fire them into contention this season.

A club spokesman left the door open to Hine returning one day, duty permitting. "He will be sadly missed by everyone at Skem but has been told he will always be welcome back whenever he can make it," he said.
