Easter Monday's North Division review

By David Watters

Hyde United moved level on points with EVO-STIK League North leaders South Shields by beating Tameside neighbours Droylsden 2-1 at Ewen Fields in the only game to survive Bank Holiday Monday's wet weather, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

In front of a crowd of a holiday crowd of 678, the Tigers took an early sixth minute lead when Elliot Rokka controlled and smashed home left-footed from 10 yards.

But the Bloods hit back 10 minutes later when a long ball wasn’t dealt with by the home defence and Ciaran Kilheeney finished calmly past Peter Crook.

Hyde went back in front after 23 minutes when Janni Lipka crossed for an unmarked Dominic Marie to glance a header into the far corner of the goal for what turned out to be the winner after both sides cancelled each other out after the break.
