Rock legend Noel Gallagher reckons he wants to manage in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League.
Burscough manager Derek Goulding had better look out as the former Oasis star and Manchester City mad fan told the Liverpool Echo today [Thursday] he’d love to do his job at the Evo-Stik NPL First Division North Linnets!
When asked whether he fancied himself as a manager, Gallagher, pictured launching the Premier League champions' new strip with City skipper Vincent Kompany, said: "I would be brilliant at it. There is no question I would be really good at it. I am a leader of men."
Gallagher's comments caused a stir among Linnets fans looking to raise their profile as he then went on to single out the club for his first big job in Non-League. Asked next if he could fit managing into his hectic schedule, the 45-year-old replied: "Burscough. I could do it. I can see me with the long coat on saying 'don't call me gaffer' and 'get your haircut'."
Linnets manager Goulding won’t be too worried by Gallagher’s tongue-in-cheek interview with the paper. After making a positive start to the new campaign with a win and a draw, the 2003 FA Trophy winners head to North West Counties League outfit Padiham in the FA Cup’s Preliminary Round on Saturday.
