Vintage Celtic, the EVO-STIK League Premier Division club's over 50s Walking Football team, were runners-up in the Manchester City League in 2014-15 and have won a host of festivals and tournaments playing the slower-paced version of the beautiful game.
Supported by the Stalybridge Celtic Foundation, Vintage Celtic launched new Friday training sessions at Bower Fold this week ahead of playing in the Greater Manchester Walking Football League Martin Dawson Memorial Trophy at the Heywood Sports Village on Sunday (10 September).
Calling on new players to sign up, @CommunityStaly tweeted their latest publicity poster for players alongside the caption: "You will be made very welcome no matter what your ability, age or gender."
As the name suggests, the Walking Football phenomenon to help people stay active and socialise is non-contact and anyone who sprints, runs or jogs while the ball is in play is penalised.
