At Silverlands, mid-table Buxton may be out of the race for the play-offs but they put a big dent in Ashton United`s hopes. The Tamesiders made the relatively short journey occupying third spot, four points in front of the sixth-placed club.
And, in front of a good crowd of 347, it was the Bucks who took the spoils, thanks to a debut goal in the 35th minute from Callum Chippendale, who cheekily back-heeled the ball past Ashton 'keeper Dave Carnell.
Thursday's other game saw Grantham Town move up to fifth after winning 2-0 at Sheerien Park against the team who held that position at kick-off, Shaw Lane AFC.
It was goalless at the break but the Gingerbreads took the lead just two minutes into the second period when Lee Shaw was brought down on the edge of the box by Kelvin Lugsden and Curtis Burrows fired his free-kick into the top right hand corner.
The Gingerbreads pushed on and chances started coming, and on 68 minutes the lead was doubled, Burrows breaking free and turning inside on the edge of box before firing the ball into the net.
