Marine are set to host Jose Mourinho’s side on January 10 2021 in the Third Round of the Emirates FA Cup, with the the tie representing the biggest gulf in history between two teams at this stage of the competition.
The FA has confirmed that for the first time all 32 Emirates FA Cup Third Round fixtures will be broadcast live, with Marine and Tottenham chosen for BBC One coverage with a 5:00pm kick-off.
Neil Young’s side defeated Barnoldswick Town, Frickley Athletic,Runcorn Linnets, Nantwich Town and Chester to reach the First Round Proper, where they defeated Colchester United 5-3 on penalties after a 1-1 result in regular time.
Most recently, Marine defeated National League South side Havant & Waterlooville in the second round, with captain Niall Cummins scoring a dramatic late winner in extra-time for a 1-0 result.
Now, the squad prepare for the arrival of Premier League’s Tottenham, who up until recently sat at the top of the table.
“It’s a dream come true for everyone at the club including all the lads, management and board,” said Barrigan.
“It’s been magnificent to be a part of it and something everyone involved will never forget.
“The squad we have is special. We are all friends outside of football, so it definitely helps us on the field too because there is a good depth of trust between each other.
“We all can’t wait for the league to get back going again and we will be fighting for promotion no doubt, that is our aim.”
