Morrison, 19 on Sunday, was added to the squad of joint managers Craig Hopkins and Glen Kirkwood on Friday for Saturday's Emirates FA Cup third qualifying round against Workington at the Autoworld Arena.
Described as a lively and bustling forward, Morrison, pictured, has come through the ranks at the League One club after arriving as a nine-year-old and progressing all the way through the academy at the Proact Stadium.
The teenager signed his first professional contract with the Spireites in the summer after impressing as a scholar, making his competitive debut as a second half substitute in an EFL Cup tie at Rochdale in August.
His Football League debut soon followed, again from the bench but this time at Shrewsbury, and since then he's enjoyed a loan spell at National League North Gainsborough Trinity.
Matlock Town chairman Tom Wright is hoping for a big and vocal home crowd for the cup clash against their EVO-STIK NPL Premier Division rivals. Should they overcome the Reds, they'll be just one match away from the first round proper, a potential tie with a Football League club and a possible television appearance.
"It's obviously a big game for us and possibly our most important for a number of years," said the Gladiators chairman. "Workington will be tough opponents, they always are, but we want the people of the town and the surrounding area to come down in their numbers on Saturday and support the lads.
"That extra backing from Matlock people could make all the difference for Workington, despite the distance they have to come, will be well supported. I'm hoping our fans can be our twelfth man on Saturday."
