Founded this summer following the merger of Ossett Albion and Ossett Town to form one 'super' club, United are looking forward to hosting their neigbours and Championships giants at Ingfield on Saturday 21 July.
United's officials penciled in the lucrative fund-raising fixture this week before launching the hunt for a new coach. Using the club's new Twitter account @ossettunited, they posted: "We are recruiting! Currently looking for a UEFA B level coach to look after one of our BTEC squads and head up the new U23s for this coming season. This will be a paid role. All CVs please to Andy.welsh@ossettunited.com #NewEra."
The Unicorns and Ingfielders submitted plans to merge in February before being given the green light by the Northern Premier League and Football Association following the end of the historic 50th anniversary 2017-18 campaign.
Founded in the West Yorkshire town of Ossett in 1944, Albion played in EVO-STIK League North at Queen's Terrace. Town, founded eight years earlier in 1936, played in the division at Ingfield. Both clubs graduated to the NPL from the Northern Counties East League, Albion in 2004 after finishing as champions and Town in 1999 as runners-up.
After combining as Ossett United, Ossett Town's Ingfield home is preparing to host the new entity's NPL fixtures in EVO-STIK League East while Albion's Dimple Wells now serves as the main training base and home to the juniors, ladies, reserves, U21s, U19s and NPLFA teams.
