Euro legend lures the fans

Loughborough Dynamo

European Cup winner Kenny Burns was the toast of Loughborough Dynamo on Saturday night when he entertained fans, players and officials at their Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Nanpantan Sports Ground.

Burns, now 60, built his reputation as a tough midfielder and defender at Birmingham City and later Nottingham Forest where he twice won the European Cup under the late Brian Clough in 1979 and 1980.

Now a media pundit and after-dinner speaker, the former Scotland international went on to play in Non-League at Stafford Rangers, Grantham Town, Willenhall Town, Sutton Town and Ilkeston. Guests at the First Division South outfit's packed clubhouse heard Burns recall tales from his long career on stage before hosting a Q & A session at the fundraising dinner.

Dynamo manager Tom Brookbanks said: "It was been a real pleasure having Kenny here. I have known Kenny several years and he is a massive supporter of Non-League football."
