Evans confident for double header

Romulus update, by Andy Mitchell

ROMULUS boss Richard Evans felt confident ahead of his side's key double header this week, with two matches at Coles Lane in the space of three days.

The Roms host Brigg Town this Saturday (KO 3pm) before facing an in-form Loughborough Dynamo side who are the surprise package on the edge of the play-off places.

Evans said: "They will both be tough games - Brigg have found things tough this year but have recruited well and picked up recently. They were a very difficult side to play against last year and we'll have to be at our best to win the match.

"Loughborough are a good footballing side and have hit a bit of form - we always have good matches with Loughborough because they like to pass the ball like we do. They need to keep their run going if they're going to push on for the top five, but we are aware of the threats they pose.

'Ultimately, we just focussing on being prepared the same way as we always do - as long as we do that we can be confident of a result from both games."

The Roms' six match unbeaten run came to an end at leaders Grantham last weekend, with the Gingerbreads recording a comfortable 4-0 victory at the Meres, but Evans was not too despondent.

"Sometimes you come up against quality sides who are better than you on the day and we couldn't argue against the result really - they're a good side who must be favourites to go up this year - we've just got to get back and focus on our campaign now."

Evans has almost a full squad to choose from for the forthcoming fixtures, with just defender Richard Evans Jnr out of both games with a knee problem.

However, the Roms boss may also have to do without the services of Chris Morris after the former Rushall Olympic hitman was targetted by Stafford Rangers.

Morris is set to speak to Rangers boss Greg Clowes before the weekend and could feature in their squad to face Marine on Saturday.

Evans added: "He's a good lad who has worked hard here - he lives over that way so he may go, he may not.

"It's all been done in the right way and Chris will always be welcome at Romulus."
