FA Cup round-up: FC United defeat National League North opponents to progress

By James Gordon

FC United of Manchester claimed a 2-1 victory over National League North opponents Curzon Ashton to progress in the FA Cup.

Regan Linney opened the scoring on the 11th minute, before Matthew Waters equalised on the 50th. However, the Pitching In Northern Premier League Premier Division side reclaimed their lead through Paul Ennis, and it was enough to progress to the third round qualifying.

Following the win, FC United manager Neil Reynolds said: “What a day. What a performance. We stood here four or five days ago and I wasn’t happy. I said my side can’t go out and do what we did Tuesday night.

“We addressed it and we bounced back, we bounced back in style. Credit to every man, every staff member and every fan at home. We bounced back and we showed how good we are.”
