FA Trophy second round draw

By James Gordon

The draw has been made for the second round of the FA Trophy.

The eight Northern Premier League sides remaining in the competition have all avoided each other in the draw.

NPL Premier Division leaders Radcliffe travel to National League North side Farsley Celtic, NPL champions in 2019, while the NPL champions in 2022 Buxton host City of Liverpool.

The Purps are one of four Step 4 NPL sides left in the hat, with Walsall Wood’s reward for upsetting Guiseley at the weekend a trip to Hemel Hempstead Town.

Nantwich Town will host Chester from two leagues above them, having already met each other in the FA Cup third qualifying round, with Chester snatching a late victory.

Another Step 4 side with a home draw is Harborough Town, who will welcome National League South side Chelmsford City, beaten recently by NPL Premier side Whitby Town in the FA Cup.

Macclesfield and Matlock Town face tricky trips to National League North opponents Alfreton Town and Curzon Ashton, while Stafford Rangers are at home to Brackley Town.

Games will take place on Saturday 18th November, with winners receiving £3,750 and losers £1,000.
