Fair play to sporting Scholars!

Evo-Stik NPL Fair Play Awards

Under manager Craig Harris Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Chasetown have always been proud of their record on fair play.

The Scholars enhanced it further before Christmas when they were presented with November’s Evo-Stik NPL First Division South Fair Play Award after collecting just two yellow cards in seven games to post a disciplinary average of just 0.29.

Harris is pictured collecting the accolade from League Representative John Beaumont before his Staffordshire side’s 1-0 win over Market Drayton last month. Chasetown’s manager, still known as ‘Chopper’ after making nearly 100 appearances in midfield for the club, took over at the start of last season before guiding the club to the play-offs and fourth place in last season’s behaviour tables.

As a result of November’s win and their consistent efforts this season, Chasetown are now fourth in the division’s overall fair play table and in the running to become the campaign’s fair play champions. Brigg Town, who currently lead the season to date table, finished one place behind Chasetown last year in fifth spot.

The Scholars were named as November’s winners alongside Ilkeston FC in the Premier Division and Farsley AFC in First Division North. Like all winners of the monthly competition, the clubs received a bottle of Pol Roger champagne together with an inscribed certificate to record their achievement.

Ashton United, Leek Town and Farsley AFC for the second month in a row, were named last week as December’s best behaved sides. To view the latest Fair Play Tables click on the 'League Info' button on the home page and then the 'Inventory' button in the downloads section.
