Ramsbottom United's fans have helped their EVO-STIK Northern Premier League club sign a sponsorship deal with one of the world's leading hygiene and forest products companies.

The Swedish Cellulose Company, better known in this country and around the globe as SCA, was unveiled by the Rams on Monday as sponsors of the club's training kits.

SCA are major local employers at the company's Stubbins Mill and stepped up to become the first ever £2,000 sponsors of the Premier Division club's training kit after the deal was organised by the Ramsbottom United Supporters Club.

Joint Rams managers Anthony Johnson, left, and Bernard Morley, right, are pictured alongside SCA's Andrew Brown and their squad following the presentation of the new kit.

RUSC vice-chairman Andrew Massey said: "Playing in the Premier Division means the team is only three steps away from the Football League – and they’re doing really well this season. Winning the support of local companies like SCA is a great boost for the club and we’re delighted they’ve helped us by paying for the kit."

SCA's nearby mill produces tissue products for customers across the UK and site manager John Kirwin added: "The Rams are a very important part of the community and the mill is proud to be a supporter. We hope the sponsorship will help the team to success this season and win its deserved promotion."

Founded in 1929, SCA are Europe's largest private forest owner employing more than 40,000 people around the world to sell products in more than 100 countries.
