Fans can shed timber for Blues

EVO-STIK Northern Premier League Frickley Athletic are hoping their fans will work off any excess timber they've picked up over the festive period giving Westfield Lane a makeover for 2017.

The Blues are organising a Working Day at their home on Saturday 14 January and are looking for volunteers to sand and varnish a "shedload of timber" for the EVO-STIK NPL Premier Divison club's new changing rooms.

With no game that weekend after their scheduled fixture with Barwell was rearranged for February, officials are hoping supporters will turn out in numbers and bring along their DIY sanders to help prepare approximately 800 meters of bench slats!

A spokesman said: "If you put on some timber over the Christmas holidays, why not try to shift it by coming up to the club's Working Day, kick off 8.30am.

"It would be helpful if anyone could provide sanders too - there will be a couple of spares available on the day but the more we have the faster the job gets done.

"No belt sanders please, however. They're not appropriate for the job. 180 grit paper, whatever that means, would be useful too!

"The day is not just open to 'Sanders' either - if you fancy a bit of varnishing or just general helping out, everyone is welcome - we'll turn no-one away."
