Fans flocking to back champions

Spennymoor Town

EVO-STIK League newcomers Spennymoor Town are reporting a two hundred per cent rise in season tickets sales.

Moors officials revealed the figures for sales since their promotion in May as Northern League champions this week before the First Division North club announced a prestige pre-season friendly against League Two Hartlepool United at Brewery Field on Monday 4 August.

The club, founded as the successor to former Northern Premier League club Spennymoor United after it folded in 2005, believe their prices - £100 for adults and £45 for juniors - offer exceptional value for what they hope will be another exciting season at the Brewery Field.

Chairman Brad Groves said: "We wanted to send a strong message out to the supporters that the cheapest way of watching the club this season was to buy a season ticket and it looks like that message has been welcomed as the response has been magnificent.

"There is still time left to apply and I believe that there is more to come. There is a real buzz around the town at the moment and this shows me that the supporters are backing the clubs push for the five year plan to achieve three promotions in five years."

The Moors say season tickets will only be on sale until 31st so they can be processed in time for the start of the season on Saturday 16 August.

Admission to the Hartlepool game is £4 for adults and £2 for concessions and juniors with the turnstiles opening at 6.30pm for the 7.30pm kick off.
